Drug Recognition Training

DRE School Applications are accepted only for scheduled classes. Applications must be approved by the State Coordinator.  You will be notified if your application has been approved. A link to the appropriate application is provided in the class listing. Currently scheduled classes are listed below.

The following courses are offered through the year. Descriptions include course prerequisites and requirements.


Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Instructor School for 2018

The application period is now open for the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Instructor 5 day School. Location will be Niagara County Public Safety Building, 5574 Niagara Street Ext., Lockport, NY 14094 on November 13-16th, 2018.

Interested officers must submit their completed application, and supporting documentation, and 15 minute teaching video directly to GTSC via fax, email, dropbox or U.S. Mail. Applications must be received at GTSC by close of business on Friday, September 28, 2018. The DRE Instructor application can be found at http://www.safeny.ny.gov/DRE/dre-web/forms-dre.htm. Incomplete applications or late applications will not be considered.

September 11 Mandatory Yearly DRE Recertification Training

Zone 5 Law Enforcement Training Center, 121 Erie Blvd., Schenectady, NY 12305
The training is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bring your DRE Bag and a fully charged tablet.
The mandatory yearly training session is being offered to any DRE who needs to attend 8 hours of training for 2018. If you plan to attend, please register at the link above. You will receive a confirmation email to attend this course.
IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND!
If you need to recertify within the next six months and your paperwork is complete, you may bring it with you.

September 19 Mandatory Yearly DRE Recertification Training

The training is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bring your DRE Bag and a fully charged tablet.
The mandatory yearly training session is being offered to any DRE who needs to attend 8 hours of training for 2018. If you plan to attend, please register at the link above. You will receive a confirmation email to attend this course.

October 16 & 17 Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)

There is a registration fee for this ARIDE as it includes meals.
The training is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
