New York State Governor's Traffic Safety Committee Hosts Competition For Teen Drivers

Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for those between the ages of 16 and 24. While this age group accounts for only ten percent of drivers, they represent twenty percent of the drivers involved in crashes. Statewide in 2010, there were 176 fatalities in crashes involving drivers of this age group. Of those fatalities only 43 percent were restrained.
